Here, Erin shares more about her career and what she’s looking forward to at Big Path Capital.
Can you share a bit about your professional journey and what led you into the world of impact investing and fund placement?
I’ve spent the bulk of my career in capital raising, capital advisory, and investor relations, both as a placement agent and in in-house roles. Over time, I found myself increasingly drawn to managers who were building not just financial value, but measurable, positive change — whether through sustainability, community-focused development, or innovative approaches to advancing human and environmental well-being. That realization is what ultimately pulled me toward the impact-focused ecosystem and, now, to Big Path.
Why are you excited to join the Big Path Capital team?
Big Path sits at a rare intersection: deep technical expertise in private markets paired with a genuine, long-standing commitment to aligning capital with meaningful outcomes. The Fund Placement team’s focus is on top-tier, market-rate funds that are not only delivering strong returns but that are doing so while making a real impact; an approach that is both differentiated and deeply compelling. I’m excited to join a group that cares about seeing the financial world generate good as it generates returns, and doing so with integrity, humility, and a collaborative spirit. It feels like the right mission, the right moment, and the right people.
The world is evolving rapidly — economically, politically, environmentally. How is this volatility impacting the flow of impact capital? What can be done to alleviate concerns and keep momentum?
Volatility always creates hesitation in private markets, and that is affecting the flow of most capital, including impact capital. But volatility also sharpens focus. LPs today are more discerning, asking tougher questions about durability, transparency, and real-world outcomes. Interestingly, that scrutiny is benefiting high-quality impact managers. Strategies tied to long-term structural needs — climate resilience, sustainable food systems, health and well-being, workforce development, etc. — tend to be less cyclical and more mission-critical. To maintain momentum, fund managers need to lean into clarity, focusing on stronger impact reporting, disciplined execution, and open dialogue around risk and return. When LPs can clearly see both the resilience of a strategy and the intentionality behind it, confidence grows. Even in volatile markets, capital continues to move toward solutions that are built for the future.
What gives you optimism about the future of impact investing, even amid uncertainty?
Impact investing is no longer framed as “alternative.” It’s becoming integral to how institutions think about long-term value creation. Every year, the talent entering the field deepens, the data improves, and the alignment between mission and returns becomes more widely understood. What gives me the most optimism is the next generation of entrepreneurs and LPs. They’re not asking whether impact belongs in an investment strategy — they’re asking how much farther we can push it. Even amid uncertainty, that mindset shift is powerful. When purpose and performance reinforce each other — and when solving global challenges is central to value creation — momentum becomes very hard to reverse.
